Radio announcers said nonsensical  things in the '50s and '60s, and probably 
always will. They can't be familiar  with everything that any one of their 
listeners knows. That doesn't mean that  "we are stupider now."



Agreed. And I think some of you are missing the point, which is  that the a
nnouncer was actually playing Rameau on the radio!
 
At least we've gotten off the squirrel topic, fond as I am of the lithe  
little critters.
