in addition, it may be interesting to recount this anecdote: my friend Joel Katzman built a small Ruckers single, based on the Yale 1640, but as the client requested, à petit ravalement with 2 x 8' and 1 x 4'. It lives in France. Once a local builder had it over for a check-up, and he complained that the inner framing was not confirm the original Ruckers framing! Of course it was no longer confirming to the earlier 1 x 8' 1 x 4' set up, another 8' choir was to be set up, so the framing was confirm with a similar dispostion rather than the original, makes sense, no? Similarly, I've seen some Ruckers mis à Grand Ravalement instruments that suffered from soundboard compression due to the liner giving in to the pull of the strings, as there is only cross-braces sitting under the liners without added heels to keep the liner from caving in, when the side bulges over the cross member.
