There is no intrinsic reason why a needle meter will get more inaccurate
over time. But they are driven by analog electronics, and component vlaues
drift as they age, so the unit as a whole loses accuracy. This is easily
measured in these old Korg tuners. There is nothing wrong with analog
meters for test intruments per se.
