Though I dont have many records of soundboard thicknesses, I checked the drawing of the Vater (Hannover 1738) harpsichord (which is in the GNM/Nürnberg). That does have indications of 2.4 to 2.7 along the bentside, 3.0 near the rose and up to 3.5 north of the rose, no figured bass... Generally these measuremets need to be very carefully interpreted in connection with the soundboardwood (grain direction, type, density and particularly whether or not it is quartered), plotting/geometry of the soundboard and the string tension/vector of down- and sidebaring of the strings etc.

Too bad I read this only this afternoon, because I spent a bit of time this morning playing the 1741 Zell single (C - d’’’ 884). That doesn’t have a rose and also no other way to get to the SB, but at least its front on the belly rail is accessible.

cheers from cold north germany,
Dietrich

Is it really so, that there are no measurements available or people just don't want to share the info?
> I've been looking for the measurements for Zell and Fleischer for some time now with no luck. If somebody has some info it would be appreciated.
