Speaking of A. Newman, many of you may be familiar with his early 1970's 
recording of the Passacaglia on a Herz pedal harpsichord (Pedal, 16', 
2x8', 4') Upper (2x8', 4')

In my impressionable 20's, hearing him in Boston, he inspired me to get 
my first small Herz. Yes, a Passacaglia should not be this fast, but it 
is exciting and works on a hpschd as it could not on a organ.
