Like Michael I have a heavy duty router and a router table, I regrind hi speed steel blanks ie 15mm into profiles taken from originals BUT I don't recommend doing this. Home made cutters tend to be off balance and will wreck the bearings in your router in time best to have custom cutters ground up to your patterns.

These people manufacture  cutters head with insert cutters which can be ground yourself to your own profile I think they also do custom profiles they have a large range of classical profiles but not quite right for harpsichords.
