I must say that looking at the PICTURE of the paris hemsch the thing  
that occurs is that if I were trying to create that effect I'd do the  
bands in Sienna and sprinkle them with brass powder - to get a reaaly  
strong gold effect. I think that gold is not neccessarily the best  
material to use to create the impression of Gold.

This is an enlightment theme - that artifice is more convincing than  
truth - and so most fitting for the period
