I am very happy with the stringing schedule Paul Irvin used when in 2012 he
restrung my 2006 Zuckermann French double. He used Birkett iron wire (the
brass was not available yet). As you may know, Paul Irvin has in the past
few years been researching, experimenting, and using historical stringing
schedules, along with other elements that enable the string to vibrate more
freely than often found. In addition to restringing, he angled the bridge
pins so the string moves only up and down, not sideways. He also replaced
the bridge pins (could also do for the nut pins) with softer wire than
typically sold; in fact, he used Rose wire and cut it up -- .048 I
believe. With all these factors, the sound becomes much more focused,
fundamental, open, and longer-lasting. Just a full, open tone that is
beautiful, not forced.

If you want the stringing schedule, I can send it or include in a later
message.
