Of course! I once heard a recital using the clavichord for accompaniment!

Everything was fine until the little-finger key of the baroque traverse
flute, as well as a few of the player's hairs, were entangled with the
clavichord strings!

(Apologies for the Bad Easter joke, after all we are near the 1st April)
