Dear Beth
No, there is no equivalent of HCH in South America. There have been a few makers around the continent over the years. My last contact with Leopoldo Pérez Robledo in Buenos Aires, Argentina was prior to my visit in 2012, when he said his harpsichord business was very bad and he was tuning pianos. William Takahashi in São Paulo, Brazil turned quite reclusive, and I don’t know if he’s still in business. Mario Donadio who trained at the Hubbard workshop was active in Medellin, Colombia for a while, but no news lately--perhaps Hendrik knows?
There is Sebastian Gossio in Montevideo, Uruguay, but the closest maker to Ecuador would be Jean Françoise Chaudeurge in Bogota, Colombia.
You can always find links to the websites of several hundred harpsichord makers, sorted by country, on the relevant pages on my site:

Trust this is a little helpful.
