Dear Mr. Moen. Volume 2 would be fine to start with, considering that based on what you said, you have acquired a basic knowledge of the keyboard, and have acquired basic hand coordination. Basso continuo starts at the end of Volume 2, and this approach dips down directly with practical application without getting bogged down with all the rules. Best regards. Frank Mento

Dear Professor Mento,
I read the description of your materials at the website mentioned in
this post. I am interested in the possibility of using them to develop my
capabilities and need to ask your advice about where to begin. I am an
organist whose primary interests are music from before 1750 and from after
1950. My training and skills are limited. I have a good instrument.
As your first volume consists of topics with which I'm familiar, would
Volume 2 be an appropriate starting point? What little I know about
continuo is largely confined to its theoretical underpinnings.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Selmer Moen
