Is there any evidence on instruments themselves of the use of red brass
historically? The classic case I am aware of is the indication by Taskin
using the words "red", "yellow", and "white" on the wrestplank to indicate
wire material. Does anyone know of any other instances that would indicate
the use of red brass for specific notes?

Some makers repeated gauge numbers indicating the transition from yellow
brass to iron, but I have not seen any examples of this for red brass to
yellow brass.

Douwes mentions wire material, but I am instead looking for indications on
instruments.
