As I'm known for horsing around with feathers, I have performed several satisfying conversions in both senses of the word: delrin to quill, and the client happy and convinced. Nevetheless, on several occasions bird quills were not agreeable to the jacks, and delrin had to stay in. This never had anything to do with the shape of the mortice (rectangular vs crescent) but wether the mortice was made with a slight upward angle or not. If the plectrum stands at 9'o clock sharp, forget the bird quills. Every mortice should have a bit of an upward angle, but there are lots of jacks around all set straight at 9'0 clock sharp. Hangers are less of a problem in delrin, even if for other reasons you still want that upward angle. So check carefully before you start removing a working set of delrin pluckers.
