Many builders for all schools used graduated bridge pins and 
occasionally nut pins as well, although that is much rarer.
graduated hitchpins ca also be obvserved, though mostly in early 
pianos. 
Bridge pins sizes correlate (if they do) to string diameters and 
spacings and nothing else.
Stop trying to create myths where there are none.
