Well, I avoid plastic like the plague including for plectra. For jacks,
I wouldn't think of using plastic either. My question was merely out of
curiosity. I'm refurbishing a couple of instruments where the wooden
guides and registers are rather "imprecise". And I've seen many
instruments where this is the case. So I was simply wondering if more
reliable guides couldn't be made in plastic, and what the drawbacks
would be - other than aesthetical and ethical, i.e. purely mechanical. I
hasten to add NIMBY. I wouldn't want even invisible plastic in my own
instrument(s). (I've assembled many Zuckermann instruments years ago,
and I know all I want to know about their jacks.)
