Dear Friends,
I have finally come to the conclusion that my glorious French double needs a new home where it will be played far more than I'm playing it now. I will mourn my loss but be joyful for its new lover!
It was started in the early 70s by William Hyman, and after he died suddenly in 1974, it was finished by John Bennett in the Zuckermann shop. It's after Blanchet and is 8', 8', x 4' with a buff. It is at A=415 and is not transposing. It has been lovingly maintained over the years and just a couple of weeks ago was requilled by John, because the delrin quills were breaking--time to requill. It has an apron stand, and also a "travel stand," just a simple stand when you don't want to take the fancy one. The soundboard was painted in the French tradition in the Zuckermann shop, by someone whose name I cannot remember, sorry. It has pear wood jacks with holly tongues, boar bristle springs (I still have quite a supply), and NO screws, thank goodness! It does have Bill Dowd's "happy screws" to raise and lower the keyboard when the weather gets a little crazy. You can see in the picture that it has a soundboard crack, which opens and closes a bit with the weather. See pictures on our FaceBook page.
I'm asking $38,900 for it. Please pass the word around. It needs a good home.
Thank you,
Lenora
